Burger King launched a creative marketing campaign in Brazil that caught significant attention. They introduced a feature in their app that allowed users to scan competitor ads, such as those from McDonald's. Once scanned, the competitor's ad would "burn" on the user's phone through AR and be replaced by a Burger King ad. This new ad offered users a free Whopper, claimable within the app. As a result of this campaign, the Burger King app skyrocketed to top placements in the Brazilian App Store. Over 400,000 competitor ads were "burned", and in-app sales surged by 54.6%
